A short tour of Postbox, from the person who built it.
Why it exists
Multiple mailboxes is not one big problem. It is a thousand tiny ones — and they land where your attention is worth the most.

Anuj Shetty · founder
It started as an ordinary annoyance. I was running several Gmail accounts at once — one per client, one for the work that pays, one that is just mine. Every hour of the day I was signing out of one and into another, checking whether something had landed, forgetting which window held which life.
Nothing was broken, exactly. It was just friction, repeated a hundred times a day, in the exact place where attention is most expensive.
The people I learn from are not working harder. They are building the system once, and letting it hold everything.
Watching operators like Dan Martell — and my own mentors — I noticed the same move made over and over. They do not add another tab. They orchestrate: connect the pieces, let one surface hold them, and stop paying the switching tax.
So I built the orchestration I wanted for mail. Every mailbox connected once, in one place, with the credentials encrypted and the access revocable in a click. Not another client. A desk that already has everything on it.
How it works
No installer, no extension, no forwarding rules that break in a month.
Email and a password, or one tap with Google. It is a Postbox account — never your Gmail password.
Google’s own consent screen opens. You approve, Google hands back a token, and it is encrypted before it is stored.
Read, search, star, archive, reply and send across every connected account. Changes are written straight back to Gmail.

Security
Every choice here is written down, and most of them are tested.
You authorise on Google’s own screen. Postbox has no field for it and never will.
Tokens and client secrets are sealed with AES-256-GCM, bound to your account.
Secrets are decrypted server-side only, to call Google. A live test asserts it.
Every record is filtered by your user id, with row level security behind that.
Message contents are read when you open them and are never written down.
Revoke at Google, or delete everything here in one action.

Postbox is a free web app that connects several Gmail accounts to one combined inbox. You can read, search, star, archive, reply and send across every connected account from a single page, without signing out of one Google account to check another.
Postbox is free and has no paid tier, no trial and no per-mailbox charge. It is an independent project built by one person rather than a funded company, so there is no upgrade to sell you and no limit that unlocks with payment.
There is no limit on the number of Gmail accounts you can connect to Postbox. Each mailbox is authorised separately through Google and appears in the combined inbox, colour-coded, with its own Inbox, Starred, Sent and Drafts views.
No. Postbox never asks for a Gmail password and has no field to type one into. You authorise each mailbox on Google’s own consent screen, Google returns an access token, and that token is encrypted before it is stored.
No. They are two unrelated products that share a name. The desktop email client by Postbox, Inc. was acquired by eM Client and discontinued in 2024. This Postbox is a separate free web app, built by Anuj Shetty, for reading several Gmail accounts in one inbox.
